Childbearing plans in Hungary in 2020

A Kopp Mária Intézet a Népesedésért és a Családokért (KINCS) a Családvédelmi Akcióterv bevezetésekor, 2019-ben, majd 2020-ban 1000 fős mintán, a gyermekvállalási korban lévő 18-49 év közötti magyarok körében reprezentatív országos kutatást készített az intézkedésekről, valamint vizsgálta azok népesedésre gyakorolt hatását. A kutatás kitért a megkérdezettek által ideálisnak tartott gyerekszám, illetve a közeljövőben vagy a távolabbi tervekben vállalt gyermekek számának vizsgálatára is. Ideális gyerekszám Magyarországon A népesség alakulásának fontos tényezője, mit tartanak az emberek ideális gyermekszámnak és ez mennyiben tér el a megszületett gyermekek számától. 2020-ban a válaszadók 50,1%-a szerint két gyermek lenne az ideális ma Magyarországon, 41,7% pedig úgy gondolja, három gyermek. További 4,6% szerint négy gyermek lenne az ideális, 1,5% azok aránya, akik szerint egy. A 2019-es adatok némi eltérést mutatnak – az előző évben a válaszadók fele (51,1%) három gyermeket tartott ideálisnak Magyarországon, 41,8% volt azok aránya, akik a kétgyermekes családmodellt preferálták.<br>

The Kopp Mária Institute for Population and Families (KINCS), at the time of the introduction of the Family Protection Action Plan in 2019 and again in 2020, conducted a nationally representative survey among Hungarians aged 18–49 in childbearing age on a sample of 1,000 respondents. The study examined the measures of the program as well as their potential impact on demographic trends. It also explored the number of children respondents consider ideal, as well as the number of children they plan to have in the near or more distant future.<br>Ideal number of children in Hungary<br>A key factor in population trends is what people consider the ideal number of children, and how this compares to the actual number of children born. In 2020, 50.1% of respondents considered two children to be the ideal number in Hungary today, while 41.7% believed that three children would be ideal. A further 4.6% thought four children would be ideal, and 1.5% considered one child to be ideal. The 2019 data show some differences: in the previous year, half of respondents (51.1%) considered three children to be ideal in Hungary, while 41.8% preferred the two-child family model.<br>
