Family is the most important value – the documentary Family First has been released!
The documentary Family First – A Compass for Family Policy, produced in 2024, presents demographic challenges and global trends in childbearing, as well as Hungary’s internationally recognized family policy measures. While introducing the workings of the Hungarian incentive system, the film explores family-supporting measures and their impact on birth rates, both locally and globally.
Among the many experts featured in the film is Tünde Fűrész, President of the Mária Kopp Institute for Demography and Families (KINCS). The film’s message is that the family is the most important value, and that an appropriate family policy is not only a moral duty but also an economic and social necessity.
At the roundtable discussion following the film screening, Tünde Fűrész noted that, compared to 2010, the increased willingness to have children has resulted in an additional 200,000 more births in Hungary.
Dr. Zsófia Koncz, State Secretary for Families of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, emphasized that the Hungarian family support system is unique worldwide, as it provides opportunities for every life situation. The film focuses on these forms of support.
Zsófia Fejérdy, President of the Sarkcsillag Foundation, highlighted that there is great interest in the Hungarian family support system both across Europe and in the United States.
