KINCS Represented Hungary at the International Family Forum

A Partnership Agreement was Signed Between KINCS and Its Turkish Counterpart in Istanbul

The Mária Kopp Institute for Demography and Families (KINCS) participated as an exhibitor at the International Family Forum held in Istanbul, organized as part of Türkiye’s 2025 Year of the Family event series. The aim of the international forum, which brought together participants from 26 countries, was to convene decision-makers, experts, and civil society organizations working for families to promote the protection of marriage and family, to strengthen intergenerational ties, and to ensure that future generations will also be able to grow up in safe and strong communities.

Hungary was represented at the two-day event by Balázs Hankó, Minister for Culture and Innovation, who emphasized in his address that families are of utmost importance to Hungary. Accordingly, the Hungarian government supports sustainability and Hungarian families. The minister highlighted that Hungarian family policy sets an example at the international level. On the second day of the forum, the President of KINCS participated in a panel discussion titled “The Myth of Overpopulation”. In her presentation, Tünde Fűrész gave an overview of KINCS’s work, presented the achievements of Hungarian family policy, and outlined its main responses to demographic challenges.

On the occasion of the international forum, KINCS signed a memorandum of understanding of cooperation with the Family Institute of Turkey, which was established following the model of KINCS. The partnership agreement was signed in Istanbul by Ayşenur Çoban, head of the Turkish institute, and Tünde Fűrész, in the presence and with the support of Balázs Hankó, Minister for Culture and Innovation, and Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, Türkiye’s Minister of Family and Social Services. In the future, the two institutions will collaborate to share knowledge related to family sciences and policymaking, in order to represent family values even more effectively on the international stage.

The KINCS stand received considerable attention during the forum. The keen interest in Hungarian family policy demonstrates that a family-friendly approach, support for childbearing, recognition of mothers, and the protection of families are increasingly regarded as an example to follow on a global level. The event was closed with a speech by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Türkiye.
