5th meeting of the Executive Network for Family Values
The Executive Network for Family Values launched by the Maria Kopp Institute in 2019, met for the 5th time, this time by ways of a hybrid meeting. The title of this year’s meeting way ’Promoting family values during 2024 events’ and served as a precursor to next year, which will see elections for the European Parliament, Hungary's Presidency of the Council of the EU, and the 30th anniversary of the International Year of the Family. The event was attended by representatives of nearly 30 organisations from 10 countries.
Participants were greeted by Tünde Fűrész, President of the Maria Kopp Institute. Ágnes Hornung, State Secretary for Families of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, held a keynote speech giving an overview of the global and European demographic trends of the past ten years, and the current challenges Europe is facing. She presented the response of the Hungarian government to these challenges.
In her video message, Kinga Gál, MEP pointed out why a changing perception of Europeans on family values for the upcoming elections for the European Parliament are so important. Balázs Molnár, Deputy State Secretary for European Policy from the Ministry of EU Affairs outlined the priorities of Hungary's Presidency of the Council of the EU, which will include competitiveness and demography. Ignacio Socias, Director of Communication and International Relations of IFFD presented the state of play of the preparation of the Civil society declaration marking the 30th Anniversary of the International Year of the Family, 2024.
The hybrid conference was moderated by Árpád Mészáros, Strategic Vice President of the Maria Kopp Institute.
