KINCS Minutes - about young people: Another short film of the Mária Kopp Institute about the results of Hungarian family and demography policy
In Hungary, young people have received more and more support to start their lives in the last decade. The fourth part of KINCS Minutes is about measures helping to start a career and a family.
The KINCS Minutes video series launched by the Mária Kopp Institute for Demography and Families presents the successes of Hungarian family and demography policy. The short films of a few minutes always focus on one topic at a time and empirically prove the effectiveness of the measures.
Under left-wing governments, youth unemployment was twice as high as it is currently. A family-friendly shift took place in 2010: since then, youth employment has been steadily rising. Young people will be further assisted by the fact that those under 25 does not have to pay any personal income tax from 2022, which will increase their income by an average of 22 percent.
The free highway code examination and language exam and the more favourable student loans also help young people to start their careers. These possibilities have been used by many hundreds of thousands of young people in recent years. Young people are supported in their plans to start a family by the baby-expecting subsidy, a home-creation program, a newly wed tax credit, a child care allowance for those in tertiary education and the student loan waiver of mothers.
Hungary is a family-friendly country where young people are valued. Let us keep it like that, let us protect our common treasures.
