A cooperation agreement was signed by the Mária Kopp Institute and the Professional Association of Hungarian Health Visitors*
On the occasion of Health Visitors’ Day, the Mária Kopp Institute for Demography and Families (KINCS) and the 105-year-old Professional Association of Hungarian Health Visitors signed a cooperation agreement.
June 13 is Health Visitors’ Day. The 105-year-old health visitor care, which is unique not only in Europe but also in the world, became a Hungaricum in 2015. The system of health visitor care is constantly evolving, according to universal human values, current knowledge of science and the present-day needs of families, children and parents.
The Hungarian health visitor system is unique in that sense, that it seaks to provide answers to current social, public health and population needs. The network of 5,000 professionals in the Health Visitor Service is invaluable. Thanks to their organizational and consulting work, the vaccination of the population with compulsory vaccinations in Hungary has been outstandingly high in international comparison for decades.
Building on the principles of family care developed from the beginning, the health visitor still provides basic care for the population in their family homes, at consulting rooms and at community programs. The health visitors maintain a regular, personal contact with the families, during which they help to solve different problems in diverse life situations, practically from conception, according to individual needs. For more than a hundred years now, health visitors have been prominent allies of families.
The aim of the professional agreement between KINCS and the health visitors is to utilize scientific research, intellectual values and experiences further on in their work for the benefit of families. Based on this, they start joint work by developing a framework of professional cooperation regarding family-related, demographic and health-related knowledge sharing. The agreement will run for five years, and came into force with the solemn signing.
