All population indicators in Hungary improved during the winter.
The desire to have children has increased significantly in the winter months, according to the latest data from the Central Statistical Office.
Between December 2019 and February 2020, 22,929 children were born in Hungary, which is 8.6%, numerically 1,819 more than in the previous winter. As a result, the so-called fertility rate also increased significantly to 1.55, which is 9.2% more than a year earlier. Between December 2019 and February 2020, 10,616 couples have walked down the aisle, nearly double the number of marriages in the previous winter. The number of abortions was 7.7%, 532 less than a year earlier. The number of deaths was 4409, down 11.5% between December and February. Due to a decrease in mortality and an increase in births, natural weight loss has decreased by 36%.
The current favorable data can be related to the positive effects of the Family Protection Action Plan launched in July 2019.
